The Permitting Process
The Mt. Rainier Chapter’s Quarterly Virtual meeting held October 16 at noon provided a long awaited look at Tumwater’s Craft District being developed at the site of the former Olympia Brewery. The meeting sponsored by Korsmo Construction brought multiple aspects of this development taking form in the community. Although the initial in-person meeting and tour was waylaid in March, presenters from Korsmo, Cardinal Architecture and SCJ Alliance were graciously flexible in bringing together an interesting virtual presentation.
Jim Carey of Cardinal Architecture PC began with an historical background of the properties, his involvement with the restoration/rehabilitation of the Old Brewery Tower, and plans of the Craft District including a future Market Building. Tyrell Bradley of SCJ Alliance provided an overview of site and civil design factors and challenges encountered due to location between a major road and the Deschutes River, elevational change across the site, and permitting.
Lastly, the Korsmo team of Dan Mundle, Bryan Ryerse, Daniel Velasco, and Forrest Huff create a virtual walk-through of the facility just completed for South Puget Sound Community College’s Brewing and Distilling program. The Chapter greatly appreciates the efforts of all who contribute to the mission of CSI!
